Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the hazard lamps.
  3. Turn ON the hazard lamp switch.
  4. Turn OFF the hazard lamp switch.
  5. Turn OFF the ignition.

Did the hazard flashers operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the turn signal lamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Turn Signal Lamps and/or Indicators Inoperative

  1. Disconnect the turn signal/hazard flasher module.
  2. Connect a test light between the hazard switch signal circuit of the turn signal/hazard flasher module and battery positive voltage.
  3. Turn ON the hazard switch.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Test the hazard switch ground circuit for high resistance or open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 11

Test the hazard switch signal circuit for high resistance or open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the turn signal/multifunction switch. Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the turn signal/hazard flasher module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the turn signal/hazard flasher module. Refer to Hazard Lamp Flasher Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the turn signal/multifunction switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
