Parking Brake Cable Replacement Front Cable

1. Remove the left front carpet retainer.



2. Pull edge of drivers side carpet back enough to access grommet.
3. Remove the grommet from the floor pan.
4. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.



5. Disconnect the front cable housing (2) from the intermediate cable (1) at the cable clip.
6. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
7. Disconnect the cable from the lever assembly.
8. Remove the parking brake front cable assembly.

1. Position the front parking brake cable assembly in the vehicle.
2. Install the left front carpet retainer.
3. Connect the cable to the lever assembly.
4. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.



5. Connect the front cable housing (2) to the intermediate cable (1) at the cable clip.
6. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.



7. Seat the grommet in the floor pan.
8. Install carpet into place.
9. Adjust the parking brake cable.

Parking Brake Cable Replacement Intermediate Cable

1. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Disconnect the intermediate parking brake cable (1) from the cable clip (2).
3. Disconnect intermediate cable housing from the cable retaining bracket.



4. Disconnect the intermediate cable (3) from the rear equalizer (1).
5. Disconnect the intermediate cable housing from the rear cable housing retaining bracket.
6. Remove the intermediate cable.

1. Route and install the intermediate parking cable into brake cable retaining brackets.
2. Connect the left (2) and right (5) rear parking brake cables to the intermediate cable (3), using equalizer (1).



3. Insert the intermediate cable (1) into the cable retaining bracket and lock the cable into place.
4. Connect front of the intermediate cable (1) to the front cable using the connecting clip.
5. Adjust the parking brake cable.

Parking Brake Cable Replacement Rear Cables

1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Back off adjuster nut to release cable tension.
3. Disconnect right and left rear parking brake cables from the rear equalizer.
4. Remove conduit fitting from bracket by depressing conduit fitting retaining tangs.
5. Remove the tire and wheel.



6. Remove right and left cable retainer bolts.



7. Disconnect right and left parking brake cable from the parking brake levers.
8. Remove right and left cable from caliper support brackets by depressing conduit fitting retaining tangs.
9. Remove the parking brake rear cables.

1. Position right and left rear parking brake cable to the vehicle.
2. Install conduit fitting to bracket by snapping into place.
3. Connect cables to the equalizer.



4. Install right and left cable retainer bolts.



5. Install right and left cables to the caliper support brackets by snapping into place.
6. Connect the parking brake cables to the parking brake levers.
7. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tire and Wheel.
8. Adjust parking brake cable.
