DEFINITION: This table diagnoses the lumbar support (option AL2) in the left seat and the right seat. The diagnosis does not include the left seat if the left seat is equipped with the memory function (option A43). For diagnosis of the lumbar support in the left seat equipped with A43, refer to the Lumbar Support Diagnostic System Check.

Did you perform the Lumbar Support System Check?

  1. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar switch connector from the appropriate cavity to ground:
  2. • Left: cavity F (TAN)
    • Right: cavity F (PNK)
  3. Move the lumbar switch to the UP position.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar switch connector from the appropriate cavity to ground:
  2. • Left: cavity A (PPL)
    • Right: cavity A (ORN)
  3. Move the lumbar switch to the DOWN position.

Does the test lamp light?

Replace the suspect lumbar switch. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .

Is the lumbar switch replacement complete?

  1. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar vertical motor connector from the appropriate cavity to ground:
  2. • Left: cavity B (TAN)
    • Right: cavity B (PNK)
  3. Move the appropriate lumbar switch to the UP position.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar vertical motor connector from the appropriate cavity to ground:
  2. • Left: cavity A (PPL)
    • Right: cavity A (ORN)
  3. Move the appropriate lumbar switch to the DOWN position.

Does the test lamp light?

Replace the suspect lumbar vertical motor. Refer to Front Seat Lumbar Support Replacement .

Is the lumbar vertical motor replacement complete?

Repair the open in the appropriate circuit:

    • Left: CKT 768 (TAN)
    • Right: CKT 793 (PNK)

Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

    • Left: CKT 767 (PPL)
    • Right: CKT 792 (ORN)
