The door hinge components may affect the performance of vital components and systems. The door hinge components may result in a major repair expense. Replace each component with one of the same part number or with an equivalent component. Do not use replacement components of lesser quality or substitute design. Use the specified torque values during reassembly in order to ensure proper retention of this part.

The hinges are bolted to the following components:

    • The door
    • The body

Door adjustments are provided through the use of floating anchor plates in the door and front body hinge pillars. Perform the door adjustments in the following sequence:

  1. Up and down
  2. Forward and rearward
  3. In and out

Before attempting any door alignments, remove the door lock striker in order to allow the door to hang freely on its hinges. This eliminates the possibility of the striker interference with proper door alignment. The striker firmly holds the door in the door opening. Do not use the striker in order to force the door into proper alignment. Reset the striker adjustment after a door adjustment. After you perform a hinge or striker adjustment, touch-up any exposed unpainted surfaces on the hinge or striker pillar.
