All of the door hardware production attaching screws contain an epoxy thread-locking compound. The epoxy thread-locking component ensures that the minimum original torque setting will be maintained. The service attaching screws may not contain a thread-locking compound. Treat the threads of the fastener(s) using LOCTITE™ 272 GM P/N 12345493 or the equivalent, under the following conditions:
| • | In order to prevent loosening of the service screws |
| • | In order to renew the thread-locking characteristics of production screws |
The LOCTITE™ 272 GM P/N 12345493 or the equivalent, is applied to the hardware attachment as a liquid.
Upon installation and tightening, the adhesive cures in order to bond the attachment and prevent loosening. The adhesive bond does not prevent future removal or attachment if required. You may use LOCTITE™ 272 or the equivalent on any threaded fastener.
