The scan tool displays the standard body module (SBM) data. SBM data assists in determining the following information:
• | Whether the SBM is operating properly |
• | Whether the SBM is sending and receiving the proper data to any particular system. |
The SBM uses data received from other systems in order to carry out certain functions. If the SBM receives the incorrect data from another system, the SBM may appear to be functioning improperly.
The scan tool displays the SBM input status. Select the SBM status display in order to display the data and determine if the switched inputs may be properly interpreted. The display also indicates if the input has changed states. For example, when a door closes, the scan tool displays the input status of the door ajar switch as INACTIVE. When the door opens, the scan tool reads ACTIVE. Use this kind of information when diagnosing a malfunction associated with a particular SBM input or an input that is shared with another system.
Use a scan tool in order to cycle the SBM output functions. When the SBM output cycling is selected, the SBM commands the output cycling. Use the cycling feature in order to determine whether the SBM is able to cycle an output regardless of the inputs or any specific program instructions. The following actions describe the way the cycling feature is used:
