Important: When learning additional ignition keys, determine the necessary mechanical cut (code). Cut the mechanical code into the unlearned ignition key. The mechanical code is available on the vehicle invoice, the ignition lock cylinder, or the original ignition key knock out.

Use this procedure in order to learn up to 10 additional ignition keys (black or gray). A master key (black) must be available.

Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components when replacing a lost master ignition key or the system components.

Important: Do not use a valet key (gray) first in this procedure. A valet key does not allow the system to learn additional keys.

1. Insert the master ignition key (black) into the ignition lock cylinder.
2. Start the vehicle.

Important: If the vehicle does not start, refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components .

3. Wait 10 seconds.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
5. Remove the key.

Important: The ignition key must have the valid mechanical code. The ignition key must be unlearned.

6. Within 10 seconds, insert an ignition key into the lock cylinder.
7. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

•	The SECURITY indicator illuminates. You may not notice the SECURITY indicator illuminating, because the system can quickly learn an unlearned key.

•	The SECURITY indicator turns OFF when the key has been learned.

8. Wait 10 seconds.
9. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
10. Remove the key.
11. Repeat steps 6-10 in order to learn additional keys.
