Ensure that the current draw measured for
an operating horn is 4.5-5.5 amperes at 11.5-12.5 volts.
A high current (more than 30 amperes (4)) indicates one
of the following conditions:
• | An overheated winding horn |
Replace the horn if any of the above conditions exist.
A current reading of about 18 amperes indicates that the contact
points are not opening. Adjust the horn current if the contact points are
not opening.
No current reading indicates one of the following conditions:
• | Open contact points (1) |
Replace the horn if the horn is overheated.
Adjust the horn if the contact points are open.
Adjustment Procedure
• | Increase the current by turning the adjusting screw (2)
counter clockwise. |
• | Decrease the current by turning the adjusting screw (2)
clockwise. |
• | Complete the current adjustments 1/4 turn (90°) at
a time. |
