Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Connect a scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  2. Use the SBM Data List Outputs Function on the scan tool in order to turn on the FASTEN BELTS indicator.

Does the indicator on the cluster light on command?

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect body control module (SBM) connector C2
  2. Connect a fused jumper from SBM connector C2 terminal A4 to ground.

Does the FASTEN BELTS indicator light when the jumper is connected?

Go to Step 4

Test SBM connector C2 for proper terminal contact. Is the terminal contact is OK?

Go to Step 5

Replace the SBM.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  2. Remove the fused jumper from SBM connector C2.
  3. Use a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) in order to test the resistance between SBM connector C2 terminal A4 and instrument cluster connector terminal B4.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Repair the open in CKT 234 (YEL).

Is the repair complete?

Test the instrument cluster connector for poor terminal contact.

Is the terminal contact OK?

Repair or replace the instrument cluster.

Is the repair or replacement complete?
