The head up display (HUD) system is comprised of the following
components:
• | The head up display (HUD) module |
• | The head up display (HUD) switch |
• | The powertrain control module (PCM) |
The Head Up Display (HUD) module uses various inputs from these components
in order to display the following information:
• | The CHECK GAGES message |
The head up display (HUD) module uses inputs from the head up display
(HUD) switch in order to control the HUD image location and brightness.
The HUD module uses a motor driven cable-drive system. The HUD up/down
switch controls the cable-drive system. The switch directs the motor to move
the HUD image up or down on the windshield. Move the HUD dim switch in order
to adjust the HUD image brightness. The 2 switches are located within
the HUD switch.
The HUD module uses various inputs in order to display the image. For
example, the PCM sends the vehicle speed as 4000 pulses per mile.
The HUD module reduces the display image intensity whenever the following
components are activated:
The HUD module performs a diagnostic system test (displays all segments)
for 4 seconds whenever the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position.
