When you press the ODO/TRIP button, circuit 1326 grounds. The instrument cluster detects the ground on terminal B8 and switches the DIC display to the trip odometers.
The DTC sets under the following conditions:
• | The ignition is in RUN. |
• | The ODO/TRIP switch is stuck or shorted to ground for greater than 60 seconds. |
When the DTC sets, the instrument cluster disables the function of the ODO/TRIP button for the remainder of that ignition cycle or the DTC is set as a history DTC. The instrument cluster displays the trip odometer message displayed when the condition was detected.
Test for a binding, sticking or broken ODO/TRIP button. If the ODO/TRIP button is OK, clear the DTC. Perform the Diagnostic System Check. If the DTC is set current again, refer to the DTC B1524 Odometer Switch Stuck/Shorted To Ground diagnostic table.
