The windshield wiper/washer system consists of a permanent-magnet depressed-park wiper motor assembly, a wiper transmission, two wiper arm and blade assemblies, a washer pump, and on certain models, a solvent level sensor mounted on a washer solvent reservoir, and a wiper/washer switch. Vehicles equipped with the Rainsense option are equipped with a Rainsense module as well as all the components listed above. The Rainsense module is mounted ahead and to the right of the inside rear view mirror.

Pulse and timing functions, along with the demand wash function, are controlled by a printed circuit board in the wiper motor cover. Rainsense functions are controlled by the Rainsense module and the printed circuit board in the wiper motor cover.

The wiper motor is equipped with RFI (radio frequency interference) suppression. Additionally, the wiper motor is protected by an internal circuit breaker. If the wipers are blocked (by snow or ice, for example) the circuit breaker will open the circuit. The circuit breaker automatically resets when it cools.

Depressed-park positioning is accomplished by the crank arm on the wiper motor assembly.
