When the following conditions are met the daytime running lamps (DRL) are activated:

    • The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
    • The ambient light sensor detects daylight.
    • The vehicle is not in PARK.

When the above conditions are met, the lamp control module (LCM) supplies battery positive voltage (B+) in series through CKT 593 (DK BLU) to the high beam headlamps. Because the high beam headlamps are in series, they split the voltage supplied by the LCM and they light at a reduced intensity. The DRL are disabled if the flash-to-pass feature is activated or if the vehicle is in PARK. When the ambient light sensor detects darkness, the low beams automatically turn on at regular intensity and the high beams turn off.
