Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 39500-B Air Conditioning
Refrigerant, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System
- Recover the refrigerant
from the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the hood latch support bracket. Refer to
Hood Latch Support Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Remove the right headlamp assembly (L67 engine only). Refer to
Headlamp Replacement
in Lighting
Systems.
- Remove the upper radiator seal.
- Disconnect the compressor
hose from the condenser.
- Disconnect the evaporator tube from the condenser.
- Remove the condenser tube bracket bolt from the radiator.
- Remove the condenser to
radiator mounting bolts.
- Remove the condenser from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure

- Install the condenser.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the condenser
mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the connections to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the condenser
tube bracket and bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the connections to 2.5 N·m (23 lb in).
- Install the evaporator tube to condenser.
Install the compressor hose to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the connections to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the upper radiator
seal.
- Install the right headlamp. Refer to
Headlamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.
- Install the hood latch bracket assembly. Refer to
Hood Latch Support Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Test the A/C system for leaks using the J 39400
. Refer to
Leak Testing
.
