Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 39500-B Air Conditioning Refrigerant, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System


    Object Number: 247310  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the A/C evaporator tube from the condenser.

  3. Object Number: 247113  Size: SH
  4. Remove the evaporator line fastener.

  5. Object Number: 247119  Size: SH
  6. Remove the A/C evaporator tube from the evaporator.

  7. Object Number: 378355  Size: SH
  8. Remove the A/C evaporator tube clips.
  9. Remove the A/C evaporator tube from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Tools Required

J 39400 Electronic Halogen Leak Detector


    Object Number: 247218  Size: SH
  1. Position the A/C evaporator tube in the vehicle.
  2. Install the A/C evaporator tube clips.

  3. Object Number: 247119  Size: SH
  4. Install the A/C evaporator tube to the evaporator.

  5. Object Number: 247113  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the evaporator line fastener.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C evaporator tube connection to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the A/C evaporator tube to the condenser.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the connection to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  10. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  11. Test the A/C system for leaks using the J 39400 . Refer to Leak Testing .
