Removal Procedure

The actuators are specifically designed for the right side and the left side of the heater and A/C module. When servicing an actuator, ensure that you replace the actuator with the correct service part for the position being serviced.

  1. Remove the sound insulators as needed in order to gain access to the actuators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  2. Remove the knee bolster, as needed. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  3. Remove the console, as needed. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  4. Remove the trim, as needed. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the actuator.
  6. Remove the screws retaining the actuator.
  7. Remove the actuator.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the actuator with mounting screws.
  2. Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1 N·m (12 lb in).

  3. Connect the electrical connector.
  4. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  5. Install the console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  6. Install the trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  7. Important: After the actuator has been replaced, the actuator must be recalibrated for proper travel. The ignition must be cycled on for 3 minutes in order to allow the programmer and the actuators time to recalibrate for proper travel.

  8. Install the sound insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
