Assembly Procedure

    Object Number: 324831 Size: SH
  1. Install the wave washer (1).

    2. Object Number: 324839 Size: SH
  2. Perform the following steps in order to install the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) coil assembly:

    3. Align the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly (1) to the 12 o' clock position.


    Object Number: 293255 Size: SH

    Important: Do not depress the tab (1) on the back of the SIR coil assembly.

  3. The new SIR coil assembly will be pre-centered. Pull the tab and remove.

    4. Object Number: 324859 Size: SH
  4. Align the SIR coil assembly (2) with the horn tower sticking through the shaft lock shield assembly (1).

    5. Object Number: 325104 Size: SH

    Important: The retaining ring (1) must seat securely on the groove of the race and upper shaft assembly (2).

  5. Install the retaining ring (1).

    6. Object Number: 324825 Size: SH
  6. Install the black SIR connector (2) to the fused jumper assembly connector (1).

    7. Object Number: 324821 Size: SH
  7. Pop the wire harness assembly (4) into the wire harness strap (5).

    8. Install 1 wire harness strap (2) into the steering column tilt head assembly (1).

    Install 3 wire harness straps (3) onto the wire harness assembly (4).

  8. Install the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
