Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the I/P assembly.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the switches.

  3. Object Number: 40367  Size: SH
  4. Remove the pushrod (2) from the pushrod pin (1).

  5. Object Number: 40363  Size: SH
  6. Remove the six brake pedal nuts (1).

  7. Object Number: 40361  Size: SH
  8. Remove the brake pedal assembly (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 40361  Size: SH
  1. Install the brake pedal assembly (1) onto the booster studs.

  2. Object Number: 40363  Size: SH
  3. Install the six brake pedal nuts (1).

  4. Object Number: 40367  Size: SH
  5. Apply the lubricant to the pushrod pin (1).
  6. Use GM P/N 9985164 or the equivalent.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the pushrod (2) onto the pushrod pin (1). Secure with a spacer (3) and a retainer (4).
  8. Tighten

        • Tighten the pedal assembly to the lower Cowl Stud Nuts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
        • Tighten the Pedal Assembly to the Booster Stud Nuts to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).
  9. Connect the electrical connectors to the switches.
  10. Install the I/P assembly.
