Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement Right
Removal Procedure
- Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement
.
- Remove the generator rear retaining brace.
- Reposition the fuel line routing bracket.
- Remove the rear engine lift hook.
- Disconnect the spark plug wires.
- Remove the rocker arm
cover bolts.
- Remove the rocker arm cover and the gasket. The gasket is reusable.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rocker arm
cover gasket.
- Install the rocker arm cover.
- Apply thread lock compound or equivalent to the bolt threads.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the rocker
arm cover bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the spark plug wires.
- Install the engine lift hook.
- Install the generator rear retaining brace. Refer to Generator
in Charging System.
- Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement
.

Removal Procedure
- Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement
.
- Disconnect the left spark plug wire harness.
- Remove the rocker arm
cover bolts.
- Remove the rocker arm cover and the gasket. The gasket is reusable.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rocker arm
cover gasket.
- Install the rocker arm cover.
