The Scan Tool Data Definitions contains a brief description of all IPC related parameters available on the scan tool.

8-Digit GM Part Number: The scan tool displays the GM 8-digit part number of the module.

Air Bag Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the air bag indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Antilock Discrete : The scan tool displays On/Off. When the discrete input is active to the IPC, the scan tool displays ON. When the discrete input is inactive, the scan tool displays OFF.

Antilock Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the ABS indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Battery Voltage: The scan tool displays 0-25.5 volts. The voltage measured at the battery positive voltage circuit of the IPC.

Brake Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the BRAKE indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Check Gages Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the CHECK GAGES indicator in the HUD.

Cruise Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the CRUISE indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Display Fuel Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off . The IPC monitors the Fuel Info button of the DIC switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Display Gage Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off . The IPC monitors the Gage Info button of the DIC switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Driver Door Ajar Sw: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the driver door ajar switch input detected by the DDM.

Driver Door Jamb Sw: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the driver door jamb switch input detected by the DDM (low input).

ECT Sensor: The scan tool displays -40 to +140°C (-40 to +284°F). The PCM monitors the voltage at the signal circuit of the engine coolant temperature sensor. The voltage is inversely proportional to the engine coolant temerature.

Engine Oil Level Switch: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil level switch, A open switch is displayed as Low.

Engine Oil Life Remaining: The scan tool displays 0-100%. The PCM is responsible for calculating and sending the correct oil life data to the IPC.

Engine Oil Pressure Sen: The scan tool displays 0-19 V. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil pressure sensor.

Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0-9999 RPM. The PCM is responsible for calculating correct engine speed data using the engine speed sensor input.

Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0-9999 RPM. The IPC monitors the engine speed signal circuit from the PCM.

English/Metric Status: The scan tool displays English/Metric. The state of the units displayed on the IPC HUD as requested by the IPC.

English/Metric Sw: The scan tool displays Active/Inactive. The IPC monitors the Eng/Met button on the DIC switch, A closed switch is displayed as Active.

Fasten Seat Belts: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the fasten safety belt indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Fuel Tank Level Remaining: The scan tool displays 0-100%. The PCM calculates the amount of fuel remaining in the tank based on the signal circuit from the fuel level sensor.

High Beam Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the high beam indicator as commanded by the IPC.

High Beam Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the high beam switch as detected by the head up display (HUD).

Hot Temp Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the hot coolant temperature indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Ignition 1 : The scan tool displays On/Off. This indicates whether or not there is ignition 1 voltage at the IPC.

Ignition 3 : The scan tool displays On/Off. This indicates whether or not there is ignition 3 voltage at the HUD.

Ignition Counter: The scan tool displays 0-50. The IPC and the HUD count the number of times the ignition is cycled.

Ignition Voltage: The scan tool displays 0-25.5 volts. The voltage measured at the HUD when the ignition is turned on .

Key In Ignition: The scan tool displays Yes/No. The instrument panel module (IPM) monitors the ignition key alarm switch. A closed switch is displayed as Yes with the key in the ignition.

km/h Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the km/h indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Left Rear Door Ajar Sw: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the left rear door ajar switch.

Left Rear Door Jamb Sw: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the left rear door jamb switch.

Low Brake Fluid : The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the brake fluid level indicator switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Low Coolant Level : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the low coolant level indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Low Fuel Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the low fuel indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Lt Turning Signal Sw: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC and the HUD monitors the left turn signal supply voltage circuit. An active turn signal toggles between On and Off.

MPH : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the MPH indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Odo/Trip Switch : The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the odo/trip button of the DIC switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Oil Pressure : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the oil pressure indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Outside Status: The scan tool displays Day/Night. The time of day as determined by the ambient light sensor.

Park Brake Switch : The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the park brake switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Passenger Door Ajar Sw: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the passenger door ajar switch.

Passenger Door Jamb Sw: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the passenger door ajar switch input.

PROM ID: The scan tool displays the 4-digit number that identifies the PROM of the module.

Reset Switch : The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the RESET switch of the DIC. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Right Rear Door Ajar Sw: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the right rear door ajar switch.

Right Rear Door Jamb Sw: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the right rear door jamb switch.

Rt Turning Signal Sw: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC and the HUD monitor the right turn signal supply voltage circuit. An active turn signal toggles between On and Off.

Serial Number: The scan tool displays the 4-digit serial number of the module.

Service Veh. Soon Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Theft System Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the SECURITY indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Traction Off Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the TRACTION OFF indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Trip Reset Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the trip reset button of the DIC switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Vehicle Speed : The scan tool displays 0-255 km/h (0-159 mph). The IPC and the HUD obtain vehicle speed data from the PCM on a dedicated input.

Vehicle Speed Sensor: The scan tool displays 0-255 km/p (0-159 mph). The PCM monitors the vehicle speed sensor signal circuit.

VF Dim: The scan tool displays 0-19 volts. The HUD monitors the VF dimming signal circuit of the HUD switch.

Volt Lamp : The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the Charge indicator as commanded by the IPC.

Washer Fluid Level : The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the windshield washer fluid level switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Year Module Built: The scan tool displays the 4-digit number which corresponds to the year that module was manufactured.
