Subject: | Clunking Noise Coming From Front Seat When Turning Left Or Right (Install
Rubber Hose On Adjusted Rail) |
Models: | 2004 Buick LeSabre |
Condition
Some customers may comment on a clunking noise in the driver seat or passenger
seat.
Cause
This clunking noise may be caused by the seat cushion platform anchors making
contact with the metal seat adjuster rail.
Correction
Install four pieces of rubber hose (vacuum line) on the seat adjuster rails.
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling and Enabling Zone 7 Document
ID #858103 or SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 9 Document ID #858106.
- Recline the seat back and raise the seat cushion up in front to gain access
to the cushion retainer nuts.
- Remove the two nuts that retain the seat cushion to the adjuster rail.
- Lift the cushion up and forward to unfasten the rear
hooks that retain the seat cushion to the adjuster rail as seen in the illustration
above.
- Cut two pieces of 0.28 cm (7/64 in) and 0.48 cm (3/16 in)
rubber hose (vacuum line).
- Split the rubber hose (vacuum line) down the side.
Apply weather strip adhesive to the inside of the hose (vacuum line) and
install it on the seat adjuster frame rail. Place the 0.28 cm (7/64 in)
size rubber hose (vacuum line) on the inboard side and the 0.48 cm (3/16 in)
on the outboard as seen in the illustration above.
- Install the seat cushion to the adjuster rail.
- Install the two retaining nuts that secure the cushion to the adjuster
rail.
Tighten
Tighten the seat cushion retaining nuts to 9N·m
(80 lb in).
