Door Lock Switch Replacement Oldsmobile

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 398430  Size: SH

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the door lock switch bezel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Insert Replacement .
  3. Use a small, flat-bladed tool in order to depress the plastic clips along the top edge of the switch plate.
  4. Release the power door lock switch retainers.
  5. Remove the power door lock switch.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power door lock switch to the bezel.
  2. Push downward on the switch to secure.
  3. Connect the electrical connectors.
  4. Ensure the groove on the back of the manual lock lever engages the lock rod.
  5. Install the door lock switch bezel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Insert Replacement .
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the fastener retaining the switch plate escutcheon to the trim panel.
  3. Use a thin flat-bladed tool to partially remove the switch plate.
  4. Disengage the switch plate retainer clips.
  5. Insert a small, flat-bladed tool between the switch plate and the trim panel.

  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  7. Remove the door lock switch.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the door lock switch to the switch plate.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors.
  3. Carefully guide the switch plate in the trim panel.
  4. Ensure the lock rod is aligned properly to the lock rod knob on the switch plate.
  5. Push inward the switch plate in order to secure.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the retaining fastener.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 1.2 N·m (11 lb in).

  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
