Door Lock Replacement Buick

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the trim panel. Refer to the following procedures:

•	Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement

•	Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement

3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement or Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
4. Remove the lock rods.
5. Cut out the lock rod clips. Discard the lock rod clips.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
7. Remove the door lock fasteners (2).
8. Remove the lock mechanism (1).

1. Install the new lock rod clips to the lock rods.
2. Install the lock mechanism (1).
3. Install the door lock fasteners (2).
4. Connect the electrical connectors.
5. Install the lock rods.
6. Install the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement or Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
7. Install the trim panel. Refer to the following procedures:

•	Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement

•	Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement

8. Connect the negative battery cable.

Door Lock Replacement Oldsmobile/Pontiac

3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement or Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
4. Remove the lock rods.
5. Cut out and discard the lock rod clips.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
7. Remove the door lock fasteners (2).
8. Remove the lock mechanism (1).

1. Install the new lock rod clips to the lock rods.
2. Install the lock mechanism (1).
3. Install the door lock fasteners (2).
4. Connect the electrical connectors.
5. Install the lock rods.
6. Install the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement or Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
7. Install the trim panel. Refer to the following procedures:

•	Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement

•	Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement

8. Connect the negative battery cable.
