Removal Procedure
- Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
- Remove the boost control solenoid (2). Refer to Boost Control Solenoid Replacement .
- Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the bypass valve actuator.
- Remove the bypass valve actuator mounting bolts and rotate the bypass valve actuator until the rod disengages the lever.
Installation Procedure
- Install tool J 39363 on to the bypass valve actuator.
- Rotate the actuator until the rod engages the lever.
- Install the bypass valve actuator mounting bolts.
- Remove J 39363.
- Connect the vacuum hoses to the bypass valve actuator.
- Install the boost control solenoid (2). Refer to Boost Control Solenoid Replacement .
- Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
Important: When installing the bypass valve actuator to the supercharger, be sure to rotate the assembly until the bypass valve shaft lever comes in contact with the stop block.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
