Fog Lamps Inoperative - All Oldsmobile

Did you perform the entire Foglights System Check?

  1. Place the headlamp switch in the PARK position.
  2. Disconnect the fog lamp switch connector.
  3. Connect a DMM from the fog lamp switch connector cavity A (BRN) to ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15V

Go to Step 3

Connect a DMM from the fog lamp switch connector cavity A (BRN) to cavity B (BLK)

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15V

  1. Remove the fog lamps relay from the RH IP fuse block.
  2. Reconnect the fog lamp switch connector.
  3. Turn the fog lamp switch to the ON position.
  4. Connect a DMM from the fog lamps relay connector cavity 85 (YEL) to ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15V

Connect a DMM from the fog lamps relay connector cavity 30 (ORN) to ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15V

Connect a fused jumper from the fog lamps relay connector cavity 30 (ORN) to cavity 87 (PPL)

Do the fog lamps turn on?

  1. Disconnect the lamp control module (LCM) connector C2.
  2. Reinstall the fog lamp relay.
  3. Turn the fog lamp switch to the ON position.
  4. Connect a fused jumper between the LCM connector C2 cavity A4 (DK GRN/WHT) and ground.

Do the fog lamps turn on?

Repair the open in CKT 9 (BRN) between S204 and the fog lamp switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 1250 (BLK) between S213 and the fog lamp switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect CKT 317 (YEL) for an open or short to ground. Refer to Testing for Continuity or Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 317 (YEL) OK?

Replace the fog lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
