Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 155714  Size: SH

    Caution: Floor jack must remain under the lower control arm during removal and installation to retain the lower control arm in position. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion and seatback to gain access to the strut tower mounting nuts.
  2. Remove the wheel and tire.
  3. If ELC equipped, remove the air tube from the strut.
  4. Support the control arm with a suitable jack stand.
  5. Remove the strut to knuckle nuts and bolts.
  6. Remove the upper nuts from the strut.
  7. Remove the strut from the knuckle.
  8. Remove the strut.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the strut.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the strut to tower nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

  5. Install the strut to knuckle bolts and nuts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the strut to knuckle bolts to 190 N·m (140 lb ft).

  7. Connect the air tube to the strut.
  8. Install the rear seatback and seat cushion. Refer to Seatback and Seat Cushion in Seats.
  9. Install the wheel and tire.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 N·m (100 lb ft).

  11. Check and reset alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications .
