Ashtray Replacement Buick

1. Open the ashtray.
2. Remove the fasteners (1) retaining the ashtray.
3. Remove the ashtray partway.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector.

Remove the ashtray.

1. Connect the electrical connector.
2. Align the ashtray with the lower trim pad.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the ashtray fasteners (1).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

4. Close the ashtray.

Ashtray Replacement Pontiac with D55

1. Open the ashtray cover.
2. Pull the ashtray (1) upward.

Remove the ashtray.

1. Align the ashtray (1) with the console trim plate.
2. Push downward to fasten.
3. Close the ashtray cover.

Ashtray Replacement Oldsmobile with D55

1. Remove the IP center trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .



2. Remove the fasteners (1) retaining the ashtray to the IP.
3. Partially remove the ashtray.

Carefully push out on the top sides of the console, in order to allow the ashtray to be removed.




4. Disconnect the electrical connector (1).

1. Partially install the ashtray.

Connect the electrical connector (1).

2. Install the ashtray.

Carefully push out on the top sides of the console, in order to allow the ashtray to be installed.

3. Install the ashtray fasteners (1).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

4. Install the IP center trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
