Delta 88 models equipped with manual windows may experience a condition of door arm rest pads coming loose and falling off when the door is closed. This condition may be due to the pad lock tabs not latching into the arm rest base properly or not having adequate tension. Production is adding a rubber block behind the tabs (2 per pad) to increase the tension. Service replacement parts have these blocks installed.
For service, an adequate repair can be made using the rubber block or a 1" long piece of heater or air hose of 3/4" to 1" outside diameter installed behind the tabs. It may be necessary to restore the tabs to their original position by careful application of heat. Apply a dab of adhesive and install the hose sections as shown in Figure 1.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
