The Extended Warranty Validation Form should be located in the owner's warranty folder. This will provide the Warranty Repair Center with evidence that the vehicle is covered for the extended warranty period.

Exchange Program

Many AC-Delco Centers offer an exchange program for 1986 speedometers in need must be obtained and noted on the repair order. The program is very helpful in reducing customer inconvenience.

Participation in the exchange program is voluntary on the part of the AC- Delco Center; therefore, all centers do not offer this service. Dealers should check with their AC-Delco Center to see if, the exchange program is available and if the specific speedometer required is available.

Procedure

Where repairing or obtaining an exchange unit, dealers should never refer the owner to the AC-Delco Service Center, but should handle the transaction for the owner.

Remove the unit to be repaired from the car, complete all red shaded areas of the Warranty Repair Claim (ACD 1078A) (Fig. 1) for AC-Delco Items, and send the unit and all five (5) copies of the completed form to the authorized AC- Delco Service/Exchange Center in your area. All information except for dealer's signature must be typed.

SPEEDOMETERS MUST BE ASSEMBLED TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE EXCHANGE PROGRAM WHEN AVAILABLE AND THE DEALER REQUESTING THE EXCHANGE WILL BE CHARGED FOR ANY MISSING OR DAMAGED PARTS.

NOTICE: For details about the servicing of odometers, refer to Part X,Section C, of the 1986 Buick Service Policies and Procedures Manual.

The repaired or exchange speedometer will be returned to your dealership for installation in the owner's vehicle.

BUICK WARRANTY CLAIM

The repaired speedometer will be returned with the dealer's copy of the AC- Delco form, properly completed. A Buick Warranty Claim is to be submitted for the R&R of the unit along with the freight charges. The dealer copy of the Form AM 1078A and the freight receipt or shipping invoice must be attached to the warranty copy of the dealer repair order.

Sublet repair charges should be included on the claim and the sublet bill retained in the usual manner.

This additional time exist be listed as "other labor hours" with the labor operation for R&R of the unit.

NOTICE: The electronic cruise control system is to be serviced using 1986 Buick Service Manual Procedures and is not to be sent to AC-Delco Service Centers.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
