J 28410 Gasket Remover

Cleaning Procedure

  1. Remove any old thread sealant, gasket material or sealant using J 28410 .
  2. Clean the oil pan and oil pan components in solvent.
  3. Clean out debris from the bolt holes.
  4. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Dry the oil pan and oil pan components with compressed air.

Inspection Procedure

  1. Inspect the exterior of the oil pan for the following conditions:
  2. • Damage to the engine mount bracket bolt hole threads (1)
    • Dents, cracks or damage to the exterior (2)
    • Damage to the oil pan mounting holes (3)
    • Damage to the transmission mounting bolt hole threads (4)

  3. Inspect the exterior of the oil pan for the following conditions:
  4. • Dents, cracks or damage to the exterior (1)
    • Damage to the drain plug hole threads (2)
    • Damage to the transmission brace bolt hole threads (3)
    • Damage to the engine mount brace bolt hole threads (4)
    • Damage to the engine front cover bolt hole threads (5)
    • Damage to the A/C compressor mounting bolt hole threads (6)
    • Damage to the oil pan mounting holes (7)

  5. Inspect the interior of the oil pan for the following conditions:
  6. • Damage to the oil pan baffle scraper bolt hole threads (1)
    • Loose, missing or damage to the oil pan baffle fastening (2)
    • Damage to the oil pan baffle (3)
    • Debris or blockage under the oil pan baffle (4)
    • Damage or gouges to the oil pan sealing surface (5)
    • Damage to the oil suction tube mounting upper bracket bolt hole threads (6)
    • Damage to the oil suction tube mounting lower bracket bolt hole threads (7)

  7. Inspect the oil pan baffle scraper for damage.
  8. Repair or replace the oil pan and/or oil pan components as necessary.
