This bulletin is being revised to correct the labor operation number within the warranty information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-01-39-003A (Section 01 -- HVAC).
Important: It has been found during part reviews of the HVAC control module at the Warranty Parts Center (WPC) that 75-80% of parts returned are no trouble found (NTF). HVAC control modules returned to the WPC and found to be NTF will be sent back to the region as a feedback claim.
Some customers may comment that the HVAC controls are inoperative. This condition may occur intermittently.
This condition may be caused by either the HVAC control module connectors not being fully seated or the HVAC control module harness being chafed or cut on an IP carrier edge located behind the radio.
Do This | Don't Do This |
---|---|
Check the HVAC Control Module Connectors and/or Repair the Harness Wires. | Do Not Replace the HVAC Control Module. |
Check both connectors at the rear of the HVAC control module. After verifying both connectors are fully seated, remove the radio and inspect the HVAC control module harness as it routes through the IP. The harness may come in contact with a sharp edge on the IP and chafe or cut the wires within that harness. If wire chaffing is found, follow published wire repair procedures in SI. Cover the IP edge with conduit, a split piece of vacuum hose, tape or other suitable material to prevent the wiring from chaffing through again.
