The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
2005 Buick LaCrosse / Allure, equipped with the 3.8L (L26 VIN 2), the instant fuel economy on the DIC may update very frequently or appear erratic even when the vehicle speed and throttle position are steady.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Due to the update rate to the DIC for the instant fuel economy, the DIC display may change very frequently.
Currently data is being gathered for a possible resolution. In the meantime, suggest that the customer use the average fuel economy since this data is averaged regardless of how fast the updates occur.
This PI will be updated when new information is available.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
