Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in General Information.
3. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel tank.



4. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel filler pipe.
5. Remove the fuel filler hose.
6. Disconnect the vapor recirculation line at the fuel filler pipe.



7. Remove the 1 fuel filler pipe attaching screw from the underbody.



8. Remove the 3 fuel filler pipe attaching screws from the filler pipe access panel.



9. Remove the fuel filler pipe.

1. Install the fuel filler pipe.




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the 3 fuel filler pipe attaching screws to the filler pipe access panel.

Tighten
Tighten the attaching screws to 10 N·m (8 lb ft).




3. Reinstall the 1 fuel filler pipe attaching screw to the underbody.

Tighten
Tighten the attaching screw to 10 N·m (8 lb ft).




4. Connect the vapor recirculation line at the fuel filler pipe.
5. Install the fuel filler hose.



6. Tighten the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel tank.



7. Tighten the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel filler pipe.
8. Inspect and make sure filler hose (4) is fully seated on fuel tank port, and fuel filler pipe (2).
9. Make sure the clamp (1) is properly located on tank port between the bead (5) and tank (3).

Tighten
Tighten the hose clamps to 2.5 N·m (22  lb in).

10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
13. Inspect for fuel leaks.

13.1.

Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.

13.2.

Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.

13.3.

Turn the ignition switch ON.

13.4.

Inspect for leaks.
