Front Seat Adjuster Replacement Up to VIN 2G4W5525711252272
Removal Procedure
- Remove the front seat from the vehicle.
- Remove the front seat riser trim cover. Refer to
Power Seat Riser Trim Cover Replacement
- Remove the seat belt buckle
nut. Remove the seat belt from the vehicle.
- Remove the J-hooks holding the cushion trim cover to the seat
frame.
- Position the seat back all the way down.
- Lift up on the cushion trim cover and
pad to access the seat frame to seat adjuster bolts.
- Remove the seat frame to adjuster bolts.
- Remove the seat adjuster from the seat frame.
- If power, remove the front seat adjuster motor assembly from the
front seat adjuster. Refer to
Seat Adjuster Motor Replacement
.
Installation Procedure
- Install the front seat adjuster motor assembly to the front seat
adjuster. Refer to
Seat Adjuster Motor Replacement
- Position the seat adjuster
to the seat frame.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the seat
frame bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the seat frame bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb in).
- Position the seat back to the upright position.
- Install the seat cover J-retainers.
- Install the seat belt
nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
- Install the seat riser trim cover. Refer to
Power Seat Riser Trim Cover Replacement
- Install the seat to the vehicle.

Removal Procedure
- If one side of the seat adjuster is not working, perform the following procedure:
1.1. | The horizontal drive motor (1) and drive cables (4) are located at the front of the seat. Check to see if both cables are straight. If a cable is bent an end will be pulled out of the drive motor or drive screw. Straighten the cable. The seat switch may have to he toggled back and forth to get the cable ends to properly seat. |
1.2. | Run the seat forward until the seat removal bolts are accessible. |
1.3. | Once the seat is removed the cables must be examined to assure that no damage has occurred. |
1.4. | Also, the two sides of the seat adjuster will now be out of sync and must be readjusted or the adjuster may be noisy and the motor may overheat and fail. |
Use the following steps for adjustment.
- | Reconnect the adjuster to the power switch. |
- | Run the seat adjuster rearward until the drive bracket (3) and the anchor bracket (2) are together on one side of the adjuster. |
- | Disconnect the drive cable on that side and run the opposite side rearward until its brackets touch. |
- | Re-attach the cables (4) to the motor and make sure they are straight between the motor (1) and the drive brackets (3). |
- If the power seat motor is not operable, and the bolts that secure the adjuster to the floor pan are not accessible, perform the following procedure:
• | From the front of the seat, disconnect both drive cables at the horizontal drive motor (2), which is located at the front of the seat adjuster. |
• | Attach a drill motor to a drive cable (1). |
• | Alternately run both sides of the adjuster forward until the seat removal bolts are accessible. |
- Remove the front seat. Refer to

- Remove the seat trim panel. Refer to
Power Seat Riser Trim Cover Replacement
.
- Remove the seat belt bracket (2) on the door side of the seat. The new adjuster does not have this part.
- Remove the seat belt buckle. Refer to
Seat Belt Buckle Replacement - Left Front
in Seat Belts.
- Remove the electrical harness from the power seat motor harness.
- Remove the electrical harness clip and disconnect the harness retainer from the adjuster bracket.
- Recline the seat back to the full reclined position.
- Remove the trim cover J-hooks from the seat front and from the seat sides.
- Fold back the seat trim and the pad to access the adjuster bolts.
- Remove the 4 adjuster bolts.
- Remove the seat adjuster.
Installation Procedure
- Position the adjuster on the seat frame.

- Install the adjuster bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Return the seat pad and the trim to the installed position.
- Install the trim cover J-hooks.
- Install the electrical harness clip and the retainer on the adjuster bracket.
- Connect the electrical harness to the seat motor harness.
- Install the seat belt buckle. Refer to
Seat Belt Buckle Replacement - Left Front
in Seat Belts.
- Install the seat belt bracket.
- Install the seat trim panel. Refer to
Power Seat Riser Trim Cover Replacement
.
Important: Inspect the drive cables. Make sure they are straight between the motors and the adjuster.
- Install the front seat. Refer to
Bucket Seat Replacement
.
