The actuator rod is damaged.

Replace the rod as needed. Refer to Steering Column Housing - Disassemble (Floor Shift) or Steering Column Housing - Disassemble (Column Shift).

The sector to the rack is engaged in the incorrect tooth.

1. Inspect the components.
2. Service the components as needed.
3. Reassemble the components. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .

The switch is faulty.

Replace the switch. Refer to Steering Column Replacement or Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement or Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
