Problem

Action

A detent or canceling spring is broken or missing.

  1. Inspect the springs.
  2. Replace the components as needed. Refer to Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle or Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

Foreign material or loose parts are obstructing the yoke movement.

  1. Clean the components.
  2. Inspect the components.
  3. Replace the components as needed. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle or Steering Column Housing - Disassemble (Floor Shift) or Steering Column Housing - Disassemble (Column Shift).

The switch is not centered inside the column.

  1. Inspect the switch and the mounting screw bosses on the lock housing cover for correct installation.
  2. Replace the components as needed. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle or Steering Column Housing - Disassemble (Floor Shift) or Steering Column Housing - Disassemble (Column Shift).

Replace the switch if none of the above problems exist. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .
