Repair a short to ground in circuit 806.

Is the PCM-BCM Fuse open?

  1. Set the gear selector to the PARK position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the START position.
  3. Measure the voltage from the starter solenoid terminal S to ground.

Is the measured voltage less than the indicated value?

9.5 V

  1. Replace the CRANK relay in the underhood accessory wiring junction block with a known good relay.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the START position.

Does the solenoid pull in?

System OK

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the START position.
  2. Using a test light, backprobe between the transaxle range switch connector C1 terminal E and ground.

Is the test light on?

--

Repair the poor connection or open in circuit 6.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the START position.
  2. Using a test light, backprobe between the transaxle range switch connector C1 terminal G and ground.

Adjust or replace the transaxle range switch. Refer to one of the following procedures:

    • For the Automatic Transaxle - 4T60-E, refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement or Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment .
    • For the Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E, refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement or Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Set the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the PCM harness connector C2.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Using a test light, probe between the PCM harness connector C2 terminal 76 and ground.

Is the test light on?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the START position.
  2. Using a test light, probe between the PCM harness connector C2 terminal 23 and ground.

Is the test light on?

Service the PCM. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming in Engine Controls - 3.8L or Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming in Engine Controls - 3.1L.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Connect the PCM connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Using a test light, backprobe between the underhood accessory wiring junction block harness connector C1 terminal B12 and ground.

Is the test light on?

Repair the poor connection or open in circuit 625.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Remove the PCM-BCM Fuse from the fuse block.
  2. Set the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Using a test light, probe between the fuse block terminal D9 and ground.

Is the test light on?

--

Go to Step 22

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Insert the PCM-BCM Fuse into the fuse block.
  3. Remove the Crank Relay from the underhood accessory wiring junction block.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  5. Using a test light, probe between the Crank Relay socket terminal 85 and ground.

Is the test light on?

Repair the poor connection or open in circuit 439.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Insert the PCM-BCM Fuse into the fuse block.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Using a test light, probe between the C201 harness connector terminal C5 and ground.

Is the test light on?

Repair the poor connection or open in circuit 3 between the C201 harness connector terminal C5 and the fuse block terminal D9.

Repair the poor connection or open in circuit 806 between the underhood accessory wiring junction block and the PCM.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Using a test light, backprobe between the underhood accessory wiring junction block harness connector C2 terminal E9 and ground.

Is the test light on?

Replace the underhood accessory wiring junction block.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the CRANK SIGNAL Fuse.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the START position.
  4. Using a test light, probe between the fuse block terminal A3 and ground.

Is the test light on?

Repair the poor connection or open in circuit 806 between the fuse block terminal A4 and the underhood accessory wiring junction block harness connector C2 terminal E9.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Insert the CRANK SIGNAL Fuse into the fuse block.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the START position.
  4. Using a test light, backprobe between the C201 harness connector terminal C1 and ground.

Is the test light on?
