Draining Procedure
Caution: Do not drain the fuel into an open container. Never store the fuel in
an open container due to the possibility of a fire or an explosion.
Notice: Do not drain fuel through the fuel tank filler pipe in order to prevent
damage to the fuel tank filler pipe check-ball.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Loosen the fuel tank filler pipe cap.
- Block the front tires.
- Raise the rear of the vehical so that bottom of the rear bumper
is 71 cm (28in.) above the ground.
- Clean the fuel tank filler pipe connections and the surrounding
area before disconnecting the fuel tank filler pipes in order to avoid possible
contamination of the fuel system.
- Loosen the fuel tank filler pipe hose clamps.
- Wrap a shop towel around the fuel tank filler pipe and slowly
remove the fuel tank filler pipe from the fuel tank.
- Use a hand operated fuel pump device in order to drain the fuel
through the fuel tank filler pipe.
- Reconnect the fuel tank filler pipe and the fuel tank filler pipe
hose clamp.
Tighten
Tighten the fuel filler pipe hose clamps to 2.5 N·m (22 lb.
in.).
- Lower the rear of the vehicle.
- Un-block the front tires.
- Tighten the fuel tank filler pipe cap.
- Reconnect the negative battery cable.
