---------- The radio in the 1986 Riviera remains on (Audio is slight and Graphic Control Center display is blank), the power antenna remains up, tape deck is mechanically functional and the battery may become drained.
------ The condition is caused by the radio chassis internal power-up relay contacts remaining closed.
----------- The radio can be shut off by either cycling the ignition "off" and "on" several times or by cycling the radio power button several times. Have the radio chassis (located in console) serviced by an authorized Delco Electronics Service Center as soon as possible.
Radios built after VIN GU401958 have been corrected.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
