GENERAL MOTORS HAS DETERMINED THAT SOME 1985 CENTURYS WERE ASSEMBLED WITH AN INCORRECT POWER BRAKE BOOSTER WHICH DID NOT HAVE A LOW VACUUM INDICATOR SWITCH. WITHOUT THIS SWITCH, THE "BRAKE" LIGHT IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WOULD NOT BE TURNED ON IF THE VACUUM IN THE BOOSTER SHOULD GO TO A LOW LEVEL. TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION, DEALERS ARE TO INSTALL THE CORRECT POWER BRAKE BOOSTER ON VEHICLES INVOLVED. DEALERS ARE TO SERVICE ALL VEHICLES SUBJECT TO THIS CAMPAIGN AT NO CHARGE TO THE OWNER, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE, AGE OF VEHICLE, OR OWNERSHIP, FROM THIS TIME FORWARD. VEHICLES INVOLVED INVOLVED ARE CERTAIN EARLY PRODUCTION 1985 CENTURYS EQUIPPED WITH 3.0L HIGH ALTITUDE (NA6) ENGINES (ENGINE VIN CODE E) WITHIN THE FOLLOWING SERIAL NUMBERS: OKLAHOMA CITY PLANT F6401287 THROUGH F6410969 DORAVILLE PLANT FD300711 (ONLY)
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
