NEW HYDRAULIC ENGINE MOUNTS CORRECT LOW SPEED RATTLE

Models Affected: 1985 Skylarks & Centurys Equipped with 2.5L (Vin Code R) 2.8L (Vin Code X & W) 3.0L (Vin Code E), & 3.8L (Vin Code 3) Engines

The above vehicles are equipped with a new hydraulic engine mount that provides fluid dampening of engine vibration and a smoother highway feel. See illustration.

On some early 1985 vehicles this mount may exhibit a noise that sounds like metal flexing or a loose spot weld and is usually experienced during road impact from tar strips, pot holes, etc. It is only audible at lower driving speeds, and may be extremely hard to isolate. This condition can be repaired by replacing the original mount with the appropriate one from the chart below.
