The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

The 2005 Buick Allure may exhibit a condition where the units on the speedometer do not match the units on the odometer in the Instrument Panel Cluster. If METRIC units are selected in the Driver Information Centre (DIC), the speedometer will illuminate the MPH telltale and the odometer will display units in km. If ENGLISH units are selected in the DIC, the speedometer will illuminate the km/h telltale and the odometer will display units in MI.

Note: This condition will occur early in the life of the vehicle, and will not be susceptible to this condition when a specified number of key cycles are reached.

Replace the cluster in the instrument panel with another cluster from your Repair Centre. Before installing the replacement cluster, make sure the battery is at a full state of charge. One of the conditions contributing to the cluster software corruption is a low state of battery charge.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
